"Designing Downtown for Women"
Downtowns have just begun to discover what shopping malls have known for years -- that women are their most important, and yet often overlooked, demographic group. Dave Feehan, former president of the International Downtown Association, and author of the forthcoming book “Design Downtown for Women - Men Will Follow,” will explain why women are so important. This is not just about shopping... it’s about who actually designs the downtown experience. Feehan will describe what amounts to an enormous mismatch -- and what can be done to change it.

Also on the program, Irby Hightower, Principal of Alamo Architects and 2013 Downtowner of the Year, will look at the current study for the Northwest Quadrant of downtown and how the design of that area for women could play a key role in revitalizing the area.
