The Vaquero Cook-Off showcases some of the traditional staples of the Hispanic Heritage and cowboys and cattle drivers (Vaqueros) from as early as the 1800s. The Vaquero Cook-Off will encompass the Mexican influence that can be found in family and ranching
recipes in the Mexican dishes that will be entered into the Cook-Off such as Fideo Loco, Charro Beans, Chili, Arroz con Pollo and Menudo. The inclusion of the Junior Vaquero Cook-Off Culinary Competition gives the opportunity for High School students to compete and demonstrate their culinary skills. The Vaquero Cook-Off is held in the heart of downtown San Antonio in Market Square.
In addition to being able to enjoy the free entry to the event and sample and/or purchase team cooking entries, Vaquero Cook-Off guests can shop with on-site vendors, dine at the incredible restaurants and food vendors in Market Square, drink, dance, listen to live music and enjoy downtown San Antonio and have lots of fun at this exciting San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo event!
