San Antonio City Council Approves Downtown Public Improvement District Budget for FY 2025–2026

SAN ANTONIO, TX — The San Antonio City Council has unanimously approved the fiscal year 2025–2026 budget and assessment for the Downtown Public Improvement District (PID), ensuring continued funding for essential services such as maintenance, beautification, and landscaping across downtown.

Although the PID was reauthorized in 2023 for a 10-year term through 2033, this approval updates the annual assessment for residential, commercial, and homestead properties. The City of San Antonio contracts with Centro San Antonio to provide core services and improvements within the PID.

Assessment rates remain unchanged from last year:

  • Commercial properties: $0.15 per $100 of valuation
  • Residential condominiums with a homestead exemption: $0.045 per $100 of valuation
  • Residential condominiums without a homestead exemption: $0.09 per $100 of valuation

The approved budget also supports new initiatives, such as centralized digital resources for parking and safety, along with tools that foster real-time engagement between residents, business owners, service providers, and public safety agencies. In addition, Centro San Antonio has launched a Downtown Security Committee dedicated to raising awareness, shaping policy, and advocating for resources that improve accountability for chronic offenders, reduce crime, and enhance both safety and public perception downtown.

“Centro remains deeply committed to our downtown community, and we’re grateful that our partners and stakeholders continue to recognize the value we provide,” said Trish DeBerry, President and CEO of Centro San Antonio. “With this approval, we’ll expand tools and resources that elevate the downtown experience, attracting residents and visitors alike while strengthening and supporting local businesses.”

Centro’s services are a driving force in shaping the future of downtown San Antonio, advancing transformative efforts such as the proposed Sports and Entertainment District. Through advocacy, collaboration with City and County partners, and continued investment in safety and placemaking, Centro is propelling progress toward a cleaner, safer, and more vibrant downtown for all.
