Noche de Truvadores + Santa Cecilia Celebration
La Familia Cortez Restaurants and Market Square will celebrate Santa Cecilia, the patron saint of Music, at the Historic Market Square on November 25 and 26, 2022 with a musical extravaganza. This event is free and open to the public.
On November 25, from 6-9 p.m., there will be a music celebration that will relive the local music scene from the era of Chili Queens through the Golden Days of the strolling troubadours. The historic plazas in downtown San Antonio were the city’s original music venue. “Los Truvadores”, a group of musicians, played and filled the air with their romantic boleros, ballads and huapangos of their native Mexico. Experience and enjoy the origins of that San Antonio sound with music styles ranging from Trios, Mariachis, Norteño, Cumbias, Son Jarocho and Conjunto music. The plazas will be filled with music on every corner of Market Square. Also, on November 25 at 8 p.m., there will be a lighting of the Christmas Tree in front of La Margarita Restaurant with a chance of snow flurries.
On November 26, there will be a Mariachi Procession at 10:45 a.m. followed by a Public Mass at 11 a.m. in front of Centro de Artes. All musicians are invited! Come showcase your talents in honor of Santa Cecilia, the patron saint of music. Bring your instrument to be blessed and celebrate all things musica. Market Square will be providing live music on the main stage from 1 – 6 p.m.
