BROADWAY CORRIDOR

One of San Antonios Great Gateways
Broadway

Citywide Impact: Broadway Corridor is a critical artery in and out of downtown San Antonio and will now see improvements to curbs, sidewalks, and other amenities from Broadway at E. Houston to Hildebrand, continuing on to Burr Road. These enhancements are spurring new development, linking the historic downtown core to the Pearl and northern inner-city neighborhoods. The project will connect our cultural institutions,  enhancing the overall experience of the city. These improvements to the Broadway Street Corridor are being funded by the 2017 – 2022 Bond Program with an investment total of $106M. Construction is currently underway and anticipated to be completed in Summer of 2024.

Economic Impact: Over the next 20 years, the increase in revenue from new developments in the Broadway Cultural Corridor is estimated to generate between $55.3 million and $64.1 million for the City of San Antonio. Near the Broadway corridor, we are tracking $760M in public and private investment, adding 636 new residential units, and 123K square feet of quality office space.

Cultural Impact: Broadway is San Antonio’s main street. Many San Antonians have visited the parks and museums along the corridor, a Fiesta parade, or a Spurs championship celebration. Transforming Broadway into a great street will result in greater connectivity between San Antonio’s existing cultural assets and link it to the heartbeat of the city—downtown.

Synergies & Connections Impact: Broadway links an urban university, multiple museums, the San Antonio Zoo, Brackenridge Park, vibrant neighborhoods, and much of San Antonio’s most dense mixed-use activity.

Identity & Branding Impact: Upgrading Broadway into a first-class address will send a message to the world, but more importantly, provide a connector for San Antonio’s greatest concentration of cultural institutions.
